Baby Massage in Santa Barbara

Did you know that April 11th (That's this Saturday.) is Baby Massage Day?

Google it.

It's true.

One of the many benefits of massaging infants is that it helps them sleep better.  And sleep is everything to parents with infants.  So spread the word among your clients.  Maybe you could have some 30-minute or so infant massage sessions.

For those clients who aren't convinced that infant massage is legitimate or actually has benefits, here’s an excerpt from the article Getting in Touch with Baby from LiaSuzuki.com, which originally appeared on MSNBC:

Parents turning to ancient practice of infant massage

Strollers are double-parked in the hall outside, and 16 moms, one dad and 17 babies have packed a playroom at the 14th Street Y in New York City...

Naprapathy for Pain Management PDF Print E-mail

Have you ever heard of Naprapathy? Well, I never had - not until I had read Serena Gordon's article on WashingtonPost.com. It's still a relatively obscure modality, according to Ms. Gordon.

Gordon quotes Dr. Paul Maguire, president of the National College of Naprapathic Medicine in Chicago:
"Naprapathy is hands-on connective tissue manipulation therapy, plus nutritional counseling," said Dr. Paul Maguire, . "It's noninvasive, so there's no downside to it, and it's a feel-good type of treatment that gets results."

It turns out that Naprapathy is 100 years old. It treats connective-tissue pain through various means.

Lia Suzuki Massage & Bodywork Gift Certificates

Do you have a client who is on the fence about purchasing a massage gift certificate for a loved one or friend? There's an article that could convince them to get out their wallet and buy a massage gift certificate from you. It's a collection of testimonials from people who have either bought gift certificates for someone or received a gift certificate themselves. The overwhelming response is very positive. (Duh.) Here are some bits and pieces of the article:

"If you’re wondering whether a massage gift certificate is a good idea for your loved one, teacher, kids, or whomever else you’re purchasing a gift for, read this article. It’s a collection of testimonials from all kinds of people across the internet."

Tea Fire Massage Clinic Photos and Report PDF Print E-mail

On Sunday December 7th, the Santa Barbara Yoga Center hosted a free massage and healing clinic for survivors of the recent Santa Barbara Tea Fire. "Yoga Studio 2" was home for the event, with therapists and treatment recipients making a continual, silent migration in and out of the room. At some times, as many as 10 or 12 therapists were in the room together, with tables and mats scattered about, practicing their respective modalities. It was impressive how quiet and healing of an atmosphere was maintained, in spite of the constant, but silent ebb and flow of therapists "coming on duty" and "going off duty", as well as their treatment recipients being ushered in silently.

In all, nearly 40 professional health practitioners contributed tables, equipment, and in most cases, hands-on sessions for the survivors - some as many as 3 or 4 one-hour sessions. Recipients numbered about 45 or so and included all age ranges.

Laís da Silva, owner of Santa Barbara Yoga Center said she came up with the idea...
