Massage Santa Barbara is an on-line community and directory of health professionals and patients/clients centered in, but not limited to the Santa Barbara, California area. Its purpose is to offer massage therapists and other health practitioners a discussion forum, a resource center, and a "face" for potential new clients.  Additionally, it provides a directory of professionals for clients/patients who would like to schedule a session with a massage therapist or other healer.

Tea Fire Massage Clinic Photos and Report PDF Print E-mail

On Sunday December 7th, the Santa Barbara Yoga Center hosted a free massage and healing clinic for survivors of the recent Santa Barbara Tea Fire. "Yoga Studio 2" was home for the event, with therapists and treatment recipients making a continual, silent migration in and out of the room. At some times, as many as 10 or 12 therapists were in the room together, with tables and mats scattered about, practicing their respective modalities. It was impressive how quiet and healing of an atmosphere was maintained, in spite of the constant, but silent ebb and flow of therapists "coming on duty" and "going off duty", as well as their treatment recipients being ushered in silently.

 

In all, nearly 40 professional health practitioners contributed tables, equipment, and in most cases, hands-on sessions for the survivors - some as many as 3 or 4 one-hour sessions. Recipients numbered about 45 or so and included all age ranges.

"[Jason Elam] uses various ointments to reduce tissue damage and speed recovery, and he visits a massage therapist...

I recently found a really great testimonial for sports massage in the New York Times. As we saw in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, athletes are retiring later and later in life, with more and more success in their later years, as well. Stefan Fatsis looks at this same phenomenon in the N.F.L. - especially the kickers. He says they're having their best season and that the older players are having the best season of all. Apparently, they're clearly outdoing their younger counterparts.

Beautiful office with sittable deck in back and view of trees. Includes one designated parking space under the building. Two blocks from La Cumbre shopping center, three buildings from State St. This has been my Chiropractic office for over 16 years. It has a front room with built in shelves, and a rear room with enclosed closets: one with shelves, one without. The rent amount includes utilities. The entire space has 9 foot ceilings and AC as well as heat. It has lots of light, and one year old paint and carpet.
